Very. Rev. Fr. S. Kulandaisamy assists the Archbishop under his instruction in the governance of the whole of the diocese.

Early Life and Education:

Rev. Fr. S. Kulandaisamy was born on December 31, 1953, in the village of Irudayampattu. He was the beloved son of Mr. N. Sebastian and Mrs. S. Antoniammal. His spiritual journey began early in life, marked by his baptism on January 6, 1954, in his home parish of Irudayampattu, within the Diocese of Pondicherry & Cuddalore.

Academic Pursuits:

Fr. Kulandaisamy’s early education took place in Irudayampattu, where he attended primary school from 1960 to 1968. His high school years, from 1968 to 1971, were spent at St. Joseph’s in Cuddalore. With a strong calling to the priesthood, he began his seminary formation in 1971 at St. Agnes’ Seminary, Cuddalore. This initial formation period lasted until 1973, after which he pursued Philosophy and Theology studies at St. Peter’s Seminary in Bangalore from 1973 to 1982. Additionally, he completed his P.U.C. at Karumathur between 1974 and 1975.

Ordination and Early Ministry:

Fr. Kulandaisamy was ordained on April 13, 1982, at St. Agnes’ Seminary, Cuddalore, by His Eminence Cardinal D. S. Lourdusamy. His ministry began immediately, with his first assignment as an Assistant Parish Priest at Eraiyur from May 1982 to August 1983. He continued to serve in similar roles, including a tenure at the Cathedral in Pondicherry from August 1983 to June 1984 and as the one In-charge of Ariyankuppam from June 1984 to April 1985.

Parish Priest Roles:

Fr. Kulandaisamy’s dedication and leadership were recognized with his appointment as the Parish Priest of Veerareddikuppam from April 1985 to June 1988. He then served at Our Lady of Lourdes Shrine, Villianur parish for an extensive period from June 1988 to June 1996, demonstrating his ability to foster community and spiritual growth.

Further Responsibilities and Global Exposure:

In June 1996, Fr. Kulandaisamy took on the role of Parish Priest of Neyveli – 1 (V.F.), where he served for a year. He then took a one-year sabbatical in the United States from June 1997 to August 1998, broadening his horizons and gaining new perspectives that would enrich his future ministry.

Diverse Roles and Administrative Leadership:

Returning to India, he served as the Parish Priest of Panickankuppam from October 1998 to August 2002. His administrative acumen was recognized with his appointment as Manager of Neelaveli Estate from August 2002 to July 2005. Following this, he served as the Financial Administrator at the Archbishop’s House in Pondicherry from July 2005 to June 2010, managing the financial affairs of the diocese with integrity and efficiency.

Continued Pastoral Ministry:

In June 2010, Fr. Kulandaisamy became the Parish Priest of Nellitope, a position he held until June 2019. His pastoral care and leadership were deeply appreciated by his parishioners, and his tenure was marked by significant spiritual and community development.

Rector and Vicar General:

From June 2019 to June 2023, Fr. Kulandaisamy served as the Rector of the Sacred Heart Basilica in Pondicherry, one of the most prominent churches in the diocese. His leadership and vision were instrumental in enhancing the spiritual life of the parish and its outreach programs.
